Tower Plans At Gypsy Corner
Published on 17-10-2007 by Skyscrapernews.com View in Google Maps Hamiltons has designed this new 30 floor tower as part of the latest phase of redevelopment at Gypsy Corner in London.
The site is situated in North Acton on the A40 / Horn Lane intersection overlooking Wales Farm Road and has been gradually developed for some time with Hamiltons have penned the previous residential buildings in the area for Fairview Homes plus nearby new office space.
The scheme that is still awaiting the official filing of a planning application will contain 8,400 square metres of new office space in the lower rise 8 storey block with the tower 30 storey tower consisting largely of residential. There will also 750 square metres of retail space.
There is already full planning permission for an office development of the size proposed by Hamiltons on the site that was secured before the previous occupier, the storage company Shurgard, sold up to developer Roselodge in 2004.
This part of London is dominated even today by industrial use but is gradually being transformed as more and more companies shut down and the brown-field sites are converted to housing.
Plans for such a significant residential tower will not come as a surprise to locals. They mark the last part of a master-plan by Hamiltons that was developed in conjunction with the local council and has so far been adhered to by the schemes immediately neighbouring it that are now almost completed.
